This dryer is the gas version of the Maytag Centennial MEDC400VW (Discontinued). Its up-front cost is slightly higher than the electric version, but experts say gas models are generally less expensive to operate in the long run. Like the electric dryer, the Maytag Centennial MGDC400VW has a 7-cubic-foot capacity, seven drying cycles, three temperature settings and a moisture sensor. It also includes useful features like a light, a reversible door and extended tumbling to prevent wrinkles. Owners say this is a good basic dryer that dries clothes quickly and is easy to use. They appreciate its large capacity and find its dial controls easy to use. However, we did see some complaints that on some cycles, this dryer shuts off while clothes are still damp. Also, many users dislike the top-mounted lint filter, which they say is awkward to clean. This dryer comes with a one-year warranty. If you can afford to spend more, the LG DLG2102W (*Est. $825) has more features and gets better reviews overall.
