  • Durability problems

The Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-300 combines a blade coffee grinder and automatic-drip coffee maker in one machine. This model is discontinued but still available from secondary vendors, and Cuisinart has a 10-cup thermal Grind and Brew DGB-650BC for about $130. Reviews for the DGB-300 (glass carafe) are decidedly mixed. While most owners say they like the taste of the Grind and Brew's coffee, many others complain loudly that the Grind and Brew is hard to clean, with too many small plastic parts that must be washed after each use. Others take issue with the DGB-300's overall durability. The best combination grinder/coffee maker in reviews is the Capresso CoffeeTeam S (*Est. $200), which is a lot more expensive. If you don't need a combination machine, the Cuisinart Brew Central DCC-1200 (*Est. $80) gets much better reviews overall.

While the Cuisinart Grind and Brew isn't included in professional comparison tests, we did find a large number of owner reviews on Amazon.com, Epinions and CoffeeGeek.com. ConsumerReports.org has reviewed the more expensive Cuisinart Grind and Brew Thermal (*Est. $130), which has an insulated carafe, but it hasn't tested the regular Grind and Brew, which has a regular glass carafe.
