The Mr. Coffee FTX25 is a nice-looking coffee maker that gets the nod in a couple of professional reviews. However, owners don't agree. We read dozens of low ratings and complaints that water can leak through the base. Some also say the carafe design makes it difficult to pour without spills, while others have durability complaints. Mr. Coffee offers eight other models in the FTX line, but the Mr. Coffee JWX27 (*Est. $40) is your best bet for a budget choice.

ConsumerReports.org once included the Mr. Coffee FTX25 in its test of more than 30 automatic-drip coffee makers, but not in the most recent ratings. The machines are rated on its ease of use, but we can't tell if testers evaluated the taste of the coffee. Consumer Guide also recommends this machine, but we can't tell how extensively the Mr. Coffee FTX25 was tested. User reviews are the best measure of this coffee machine; we found two dozen at Epinions and another handful at Amazon.com.

4. Epinions.com

The approximately 30 reviews at Epinions for the Mr. Coffee FTX25 are even more scathing. Owners complain about the carafe design, which makes it difficult to pour, and about general durability. The picture here is pretty bleak for this automatic-drip coffee maker.
