Reviewers say the Mr. Coffee JWX27 is a solid value for a 12-cup, programmable coffee maker with a pause-and-serve feature and an automatic shutoff. It even has a few extras -- namely, a brew-strength selector as well as a timer that indicates how long the brewed coffee has been sitting. However, owners will have to do without a small-batch setting, temperature controls on the hot plate and a time-to-clean indicator. Its glass carafe gets some mixed reviews for pouring and some complaints of dribbles. Also, the housing is mostly plastic; some fancier coffee makers are made of stainless steel (or partly of stainless steel). Another good choice in this price range is the Mr. Coffee Switch DW12 (*Est. $25) , another basic coffee maker that gets stronger user ratings than most.
