Not many reviewers focus on decaffeinated coffees. Most say that the process to remove caffeine hurts the flavor, and people who are serious about coffee tend to treat decafs dismissively. ConsumerReports.org is one of the few reviewers to include decaffeinated coffees in their taste tests, rating six decafs. We found a smattering of individual consumer reviews that corroborate data from ConsumerReports.org. Price is a major attraction, and in general, Wal-Mart's coffees are said to taste good compared with low-cost supermarket brands.
By far the best review of decaf coffees is at ConsumerReports.org, but you'll need to subscribe in order to read it. In a recent test, however, ConsumerReports.org doesn't include Wal-Mart's Great Value brand. CoffeeReview.com does not review Wal-Mart's decaf coffee, but does give a good score and complimentary comments to a regular Wal-Mart coffee, Great Value 100% Arabica. There's no customer-review source that offers enough feedback for a consensus on decaf coffee. A message-board question posed on Chowhound.com about best decafs yielded the predictable responses of "there aren't any."

Kenneth Davids reviews coffees in blind taste tests. His comments are critical and balanced. Davids doesn't review Great Value 100% Colombian Decaf but calls the non-decaf Great Value 100% Arabica "a decent, low-key, agreeable coffee at a startlingly low price."
