Globe Daily 1

Single-speed comfort bike

Pros
  • Diamond or step-through frame
  • Lots of commuting accessories
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Not a good choice for hilly areas
  • Some prefer wider tires
  • Kickstand not included

Reviewers love the simplicity of the Globe Daily 1, a single-speed comfort bike that is recommended for cruising around town or short, leisurely commutes. The Globe Daily 1 comes in a traditional diamond frame as well as a step-through model, and it's outfitted with a number of accessories, including a front basket, fenders, chain guard, and mounts for water-bottle holders or a rear rack. Reviewers say the Globe Daily 1 is comfortable to ride with its upright position and cruiser-style handlebars. The bike maneuvers well on busy streets, even when the front basket is full. One reviewer would prefer to have wider tires, which would help absorb some vibration from rough roads. Others say they wish the bike included a kickstand, although the frame does have a mount so you can add your own. In addition, those who live in a hilly area or who have long commutes would be better served by a multigeared hybrid bike like the Fuji Absolute 3.0 (MSRP: $600).

Bicycling and Bicycle Times magazines have the best reviews of the Globe Daily 1. These reviews are based on personal tests, and although the bike isn't rated, the reviewers are quick to point out the bike's pros and cons. Philadelphia Magazine and the blog NoCarGR.com also have brief reviews.

1. Bicycling Magazine

Bicycling magazine recommends the Globe Daily 1 for those who want a "simple no-frills runabout suitable for all types of weather." However, a kickstand is not included (although the frame includes a mount), and the bike isn't the best choice for long commutes or hilly rides.
