Owners give the Envirocycle Composter/Composteamaker high marks, saying it's a very good tumbling compost bin. Users grip the bin to turn it to create the compost. It is small, at 7 cubic feet, but it's a good size for smaller families and yards. It has a compost tea collector, which collects the nutrient-rich liquid plant food formed during composting. The composter has a lockable lid (to keep animals out), wheels for easy transporting and comes in two colors -- black for colder climates and green for warmer areas. Another composter that needs less manual labor is the Triformis Can-O-Worms (*Est. $130), which uses worms to digest kitchen waste.

Owners at several review websites, including Amazon.com, Epinions.com and Buyzillion.com, are the best source of reviews for the Envirocycle Composter/Composteamaker. Other lesser-known retailers, such as The-Organic-Gardener.com and WormsWay.com, allow customers to write reviews, and while the editors compare tumbling composters, the models don't seem to have been tested. Another useful source is an article from Mother Earth News with the results of tests performed on seven compost tumblers, including the Envirocycle Composter/Composteamaker.
