composter review, November 6, 2009

This is a good composter for small spaces. It was easy to put together and seems quite sturdy. The "green" and "brown" composting matter doesn't mix together as easily as I had expected, but it's really nice to just be able to rotate it and have it mix up somewhat, rather than having to turn with a pitch fork. I haven't had it that long, so am not sure how long it will take to make usable compost, but the concept seems very good. Easy to load, too. I love not having to toss green waste in the trash!

Simple, easy to use, works well, October 30, 2009

I got tired of buying compost all the time and explored the idea of a compost bin. I definitely wanted the convenience of something that allowed for easy turning, as I'm not about to use a pitch fork. This product works very well. It assembled easily and I've had it for over a year now and am quite pleased with it. It contains any odors (which if you compost right, you really don't have). It's easy to turn every few days. It seems like it will fill up, but I've yet to fill it up. Frankly, if my family generated more compostable material, I'd get more use out of it. But that's no fault with the product. Basically, every few months I scoopo out a five gallon bucket worth of compost and dump it in my vegetable garden. The "compost tea" feature is great. I've filled that same five gallon bucket with a mix of compost tea and water and used it in the garden. Works great. We're very happy with this product.

The rolling ability for this composter and the durability of the plastic used, is above what I expected. Love it!
Easy and efficient, September 20, 2009
The Envirocycle Composter can be used in any setting. There is nothing to assemble. Rather place the two light-weight pieces in the desired location and begin using the product! It is essential to spin the unit daily and to follow the manufacturer's directions for the recommended use of dry material.
Great composter for suburban environment, September 13, 2009

This our first time composting and we weren't quite sure what to expect; we'd heard that there were some pitfalls to watch out for. That said, this has been really easy and seems to be working well (we're about 3-4 weeks in). We threw in a bunch of yard waste (dried leaves and stuff) to start and then have gradually been adding kitchen waste on a daily basis. The composter sits right by our trashcans next to our house, and there's no noticeable smell. Even when you open it it's not too bad. A few weeks ago we noticed that we had worms, and the other day I noticed that it was starting to heat up (both good for composting). The composter is a little hard to turn (we do it every couple of days) as the material starts to get a little wet and mucky as it breaks down. But if you give it a good turn that pretty well un-sticks it, and if it gets too goopy I put in a few more dried leaves and things and then give it another spin. Think we'll have useable compost in a couple of weeks. Regardless, a great way to get rid of food and yard waste without having to send it to the landfill. Very pleased.
