Among current CRT monitors, we found the best user recommendations for the AOC CT700G (*Est. $155), a basic but well-received 17-inch model. The CT700G isn't loaded with features, but a three-year warranty is a definite plus. Some might also like that twin speakers are built into the base. Like all CRT monitors, the CT700G is capable of multiple resolutions at multiple refresh rates, with a maximum resolution of 1,280 pixels by 1,024 pixels at 60 kHz; the maximum resolution at the less eye-fatiguing refresh rate of 85 kHz is 1024 pixels by 768 pixels. The viewable screen size is 16 inches. The monitor is housed in a beige cabinet.

Users give the AOC CT700G a thumbs-up. While there's not an overwhelming amount of feedback, postings at NewEgg.com, a retailer with a customer base that's a bit more technology-savvy than average, are uniformly positive. Image quality is described as good. Most reviews mention that the monitor is a good choice for casual or even serious gaming.

While the 17-inch Dell E773C (*Est. $140) can't display as many pixels as the AOC monitor above, it does have one extra that could be attractive for businesses -- the warranty includes a next-business-day exchange service for monitors purchased directly from the company. The monitor is also sold with four-year (*est. $140) and five-year (*est. $160) exchange warranties.

Housed in a grey cabinet, the Dell E773c lacks speakers, but is also a little less expensive. The maximum resolution is 1,024 pixels by 768 pixels at 85 kHz. The viewable screen size is 16 inches. User reviews are positive, though a touch less enthusiastic than for the AOC monitor. That said, most are pleased with the image quality. However, Dell says that the monitor is supported by Dell technical support only when used with a Dell computer system.
