Our Assessment

NewEgg.com is an Internet retailer that allows customers to share their experiences with others. Within each listing, there is a voting summary that shows how the overall rating was reached, and each reviewer states his or her level of technical knowledge and how long the product was used. As with all user-review sites, the quality of the individual reviews found here varies. However, the reviewers are often more knowledgeable than average when it comes to technology products. Among current CRT monitors, the 17-inch AOC CT700G is a clear favorite.

CRT Monitors

Our Assessment Amazon.com is another online retailer that allows owners to post user reviews of equipment they own. While there are not a huge number of reviews here, some are insightful, written by gamers and graphics pros. Unfortunately, the site includes lots of discontinued monitors, though some are still available.

CRT Monitors

Our Assessment Epinions.com is an independent site that invites readers to rate products. Like Amazon.com, many of the monitors here are discontinued, though many are still available from some retailers. Among current monitors, few get ratings, and those that do only get one or two. One positive is that the reviews tend to be longer and more detailed than on other user-review sites.

CRT Desktop Displays

Our Assessment Dell sells a handful of CRT monitors, including its own Dell E773c, which draws a pair of user reviews. The ratings are good, though one user complains about the price, which he says is inflated by the included warranty (three, four or five years).

Our Assessment While most of the monitors covered here are discontinued, quite a few current models are included, and some have amassed a reasonable amount of feedback. Unfortunately, comments tend to be less helpful here than at many other sites.
