Budget surround-sound PC speakers
- Price
- Good for games and movies
- Game console adapter included
- Distortion at higher frequencies
- Limited features
- Unprotected subwoofer driver
- Short cables
According to reviewers, the Logitech X-540 is the budget choice for surround-sound speakers. This five-speaker-plus-subwoofer system pumps out 70 watts, so it's really only suitable for small spaces. If you want or need more power, Logitech G51 (*Est. $110) is a tad more expensive, but it can deliver 155 watts of total system power. Still, critics say sound quality for games and movies is great at this price, and the box includes a game console adapter. Music, though, doesn't fare so well, with some distortion evident at high frequencies. Additionally, the X-540 speakers are low on features, and reviewers express concern about the exposed subwoofer driver.
