Awesome Sound and Bang for the Buck, November 7, 2009
This system puts out AWESOME sound for the money you pay. Very simple to setup. Extremely satisfied. I have this system on one computer and the Logitech Z-5500 on another computer (obviously the Z-5500 system is far superior with a subwoofer that can really thump and excellent sound quality that is a step above but hey it cost 3 times as much but still worth it as well)

Worth the Money, November 4, 2009

I looked around for a long time looking at speakers until finally purchasing these speakers. My computer's speakers are really old ones that came bundled with a computer so they are pretty crappy. my original plan was to buy a less expensive 2.1 speaker system but these were not very much more money for some nice extras. After receiving them and hooking them up to my computer I was very pleased. I have a sound card capable of utilizing the surround sound and everything worked great. After a couple days I decided to use the included converter to hook up the speakers to my Playstation 3. These speakers are compatible with anything that has a red/white audio output so hooking them up to my playstation was no problem. After hooking them up I was extremely pleased and have them still hooked up that way right now. I play a small amount of games on my computer and music but I play a lot of games on my PS3 and can even play music through it also(everything is in the same room too) so I enjoy having these hooked up to my PS3 more since they are an improvement over my speakers built into my TV. Now hooking it up this way with the red and white cables is only two channels, that means that there won't be true surround sound. Actually sound will only come out of the front speakers and sub woofer unless you turn on matrix mode when you are only receiving audio through the green cord. So my games aren't in true surround sound though I do hear the sound coming from all angles, which is nice. Also these are no high end system or going to replace a true TV/home theater set up. But for a teenagers room, a college dorm, or just something cheap these are great speakers to have. Also I have had no problems with the speakers malfunctioning, no humming or crackling and they are plenty loud. Overall great speakers for this price range and are definitely speakers to consider if you're on a budget.

Big dissapointment, October 26, 2009
short wires, poor sound. Hard to control due to a useless matrix feature that defeats any PC adjustments. Don't buy this if you want to listen to music. Should be priced below $35 since I have $15 stereo speakers that produce better sound.
Great for a small room!, October 26, 2009

Very good little speaker system. My office is about 10' by 12' and this little system can rock it. Any bigger room and you might want to go the next step up. Setup is quick and easy and the speakers sound great. Remote (wired) is a plus with volume, bass, power, and matrix mode at your fingertips. So... For any PC gamer that wants to surround them self in the sounds of the game this is an Excellent buy. Matrix mode for converting stereo to surround is nice coupled with the adapter for gaming consoles. Although I love these speakers I have only given 4 stars. The cables for the front channel speakers are short. You might need to buy RCA extensions to go where you want with them. Not a biggy. Also, At least one aux. input would have been nice. I wanted to be able to switch from PC sound to TV. I still can but it involves a lot of unplugging and plugging ;). So only 4 stars but you won't go wrong with this set. Buy Them!

Max Slowik gives the Logitech X-540 surround-sound speaker system a Recommended designation for sound quality at a budget price, especially for games. He notices, however, distortion in higher frequencies and warns consumers about the exposed subwoofer driver.

3. NewEgg.com

Plenty of owners -- more than 320 at last glance -- give feedback on the Logitech X-540 computer speaker system. Most are impressed with sound performance with games, but many also agree with pros in saying that these aren't the best speakers for music lovers.

4. Amazon.com

Amazon.com only has around half as many owner-written reviews for the Logitech X-540 5.1-channel speaker system as Newegg.com, but satisfaction and recommendations are similar. Most say that the X-540 is a great choice for gaming, though not for music. Short cables are an oft-cited criticism.
