For comparisons of condom strength, we consulted Consumer Reports magazine, which (in its most recent report) blew up various brands of condoms until they exploded. We also read the top 10 list at the retailer/reviewer BuyCondom.com, which combines editorial opinion with user feedback, and a negative evaluation of Trojan Extended Pleasure condoms at Maxim magazine, reprinted at CondomDepot.com.

Trojan condoms are often rated equally with rival, Durex. While Durex also makes a climax-control condom, the Durex Performax (*est. $13 for box of 12), reviewers prefer Trojan Extended Pleasure condoms, which they say work as advertised. The lubricant for this condom contains benzocaine, a mild numbing agent meant to decrease sensitivity. If climax control isn't a major issue, you may prefer Durex Extra Sensitive condoms (*est. $13 for box of 12), the favorite ultra-thin condom of reviewers.

1. ConsumerReports.org

Consumer Reports tests 23 brands of condoms, inflating 120 samples of each until they explode. However, editors don't address issues of comfort or sensitivity.

2. Maxim magazine

In her review (reprinted at CondomDepot.com), Keyishian cites one couple's experience with five condom brands. Trojan Extended Pleasure gets the thumbs-down for its numbing ingredient benzocaine.

3. BuyCondom.com

BuyCondom.com is a retailer, but its top 10 list (based on editors' recommendations) seems well thought out and balanced. The top two choices are both climax-control condoms -- Durex Performax and Trojan Extended Pleasure.

4. Amazon.com

About a dozen men and women comment on Trojan Extended Pleasure condoms. We did find some negative comments about the feel of condoms with benzocaine.
