Volrath cookie sheet

Heavy-duty cookie sheet

Pros
  • Heavy-duty, uncoated aluminum
  • Consistent results
  • Virtually nonstick
  • Easy to clean
Cons
  • Price
  • Only available in one size

If you want a cookie sheet that is durable and yields consistent results batch after batch, experts and owners alike recommend the Vollrath Cookie Sheet. It is made of heavy-duty aluminum that withstands warping under high heat, according to one foodie magazine. Additionally, experts and users say its uncoated surface resists sticking (even though it is not officially nonstick), doesn't burn cookie bottoms and is easy to clean. This 17-inch pan has two curved edges on the short sides but flat edges on the long sides to allow you to slide cookies off the pan. The two lipped edges serve as handles, which make it easy to maneuver when hot.

Although the Vollrath cookie sheet is highly regarded by experts and owners, this aluminum pan isn't the cheapest. If you want to spend less, Chicago Metallic Commercial Cookie Sheet (*Est. $13) costs about half as much, but we did read some reviews that say its aluminized-steel construction is more likely to warp.

The Vollrath Cookie Sheet is evaluated among 12 uncoated and nonstick cookie sheets in comprehensive testing at Cook's Illustrated magazine. We also read numerous owner-written reviews at Cooking.com, AceMart.com (a restaurant-supply website) and Amazon.com.
