The 30-inch GE Profile PP945BMBB electric smoothtop cooktop gets consistently good reviews for overall cooking performance, but its standout feature is its smooth digital controls. It has four burners, including two that expand to accommodate larger pots and pans, and individual hot-surface indicator lights. Reviewers say the GE Profile cooktop is easy to clean and heats up quickly, but one owner reports that it has a bit of a learning curve. Another option among electric cooktops is the Electrolux Icon E30EC65ESS (Discontinued), which has five burners instead of four and uses dial knobs instead of digital touch controls.
ConsumerReports.org is our top review source for the GE Profile PP945BMBB cooktop. Editors don't go into detail about any of the 13 electric cooktops included in their latest report, but they do base their rankings on well-designed tests for rapid heating, melting and low-temperature simmering. J.D. Power and Associates uses a different technique, conducting a large consumer survey on appliance brand satisfaction. Unfortunately, while GE Profile is included in the rankings, individual models aren't mentioned. User reviews of the GE Profile PP945BMBB are scarce, but Sears.com did have one entry at the time of our visit.
