Breaking it down

Most owners say this cookware heats evenly and is truly nonstick. Multiple reviewers marvel at the exceptional performance of the Calphalon non-stick cookware set, saying cooking with it gives the results of a stainless steel pan, without the headaches of sticking foods. In one professional test it earned Excellent ratings for cooking evenness, food release, durability and handle temperature, and Very Good ratings for speed of heating and ease of cleaning. Its' only average ratings came in the areas of handle comfort and sturdiness. Owners agree, saying the cookware heats evenly and the results are perfect. They also say the cookware has sufficient weight to retain heat well. Like other anodized aluminum cookware, these pots and pans cannot be used on an induction stovetop.

Ease of use

Cleanup is no longer a chore. One thing owners of this Calphalon set agree on: These pots and pans are so easy to clean. They are not dishwasher safe -- no nonstick cookware should be washed in the dishwasher -- but they clean with just a swipe of a dishcloth. The only cleanup complaints we saw were from a few who note that that food tends to collect under the fasteners where the handles are attached. Except for one or two outliers, there are virtually no complaints of food sticking to the cookware, so there are very few recipe failures and food looks as good as it tastes. The silicone-wrapped, stainless-steel handles are one of the most loved features because they stay cool during cooking.

A few complaints of scratching or peeling. Most owners say Simply Calphalon cookware holds up very well over years of use. However, there are some who found that the brushed outer finish scratches easily, and the silver finish underneath shows up vividly against the dark gray exterior. Others are disappointed that the coating scratched or began to peel after just a few months. However, these complaints are far outweighed by comments from satisfied customers. Calphalon backs this set with a 10-year warranty, but users who tried to take advantage of the warranty say it requires shipping the product back to Calphalon at their own expense -- with no guarantee that the damage will be covered.

Editors of Chowhound.com put the Calphalon Everyday Pan through a rigorous testing protocol. This pan is not part of the 10-piece set, but it is the same material, so performance results can be applied to the full set. While there are design flaws with the pan (most notably the handles), its performance was excellent.
