Its molded-plastic sides prevent food from being crushed, and the lid flips over to function as a serving tray with two beverage holders. The Coleman FlipLid can hold as many as six soda cans, plus ice packs. This simple cooler keeps food cold for hours, even with just one icepack, but it's bulky because of its plastic construction. An alternative is a soft-sided personal cooler like the Thermos American Classic Six-Can (*est. $9), which keeps food and drinks cold all day but collapses when empty. It doesn't protect against crushes, however.
