Clipless curling irons are praised for eliminating excess damage to the ends of hair, reducing pulling and tearing, and creating sexy, beachy curls. Although this iron may not work for shorter hair, the T3 SinglePass Whirl Wand combines the advantages of clipless wands with the pros of high-end curling irons, yielding an iron that owners say creates flawless curls in just one pass. It does cost more than most irons we found reviewed, but with that price tag comes a two-year warranty and plenty of safety features.
The SinglePass Whirl yields beachy, frizz-free curls. Owners and pros are very impressed overall with the T3 SinglePass Whirl. It garners more pro support than owner support (and fewer owner reviews than many traditional irons) -- possibly because clipless curling irons are still growing in popularity. Owners are very impressed with the "single-pass technology," and they say it works as advertised. One user says she can use it to smooth out her frizz and create a smooth wave; some reviewers, however, note that it's not great for all hair types. Fine hair may slide down the tapered barrel too easily, as this 1-1/4" barrel is really best for long hair. The iron has a two-year warranty, though we didn't find any users who needed it.
For a new technique, it's easier than expected. Despite the differences in styling with a clipless curling iron, many owners say it is relatively simple to learn and worth it once you get the hang of it. Owners and pros alike praise the digital temperature gauge. Several reviewers specifically mention creating beachy curls with this iron and say it's easier to create this look with the T3 Whirl Wand than with traditional clamp curling irons.
Premium price translates to premium features. The T3 SinglePass Whirl Wand is four times the price of many models, but it offers numerous safety features that they don't have. The T3 has an auto-off switch, which shuts off the iron after an hour of use. It also has a cool-touch tip and comes with a heat-resistant glove. Finally, the iron also has a cool-touch stand for resting it while styling. We didn't find any reports of injury or damage when the glove was used, though several owners caution that if you skip the glove, you will burn yourself. This iron also has adjustable voltage for use in the U.S. and overseas.

Review Credibility: Good While some curling irons on Amazon.com earn hundreds of reviews, only about 12 owners review the T3 SinglePass Whirl. Eleven of the 12 are positive, 5-star reviews, though one owner does point out that Amazon.com is not an authorized T3 seller, and therefore its products are not covered by T3's warranty. Other owners, however, praise the iron and don't say they have experienced any issues with it. One owner says she can use the iron to "straighten" her frizzy, kinky hair and create smooth waves. Another reviewer says the iron is easy to use and her curls last for days.

It gets an overall rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars. While reviewers are mostly pleased with this iron's performance and like the adjustable temperature settings, one owner found that her fine hair slid down the tapered barrel too easily.

Review Credibility: Good The SinglePass Whirl has only three reviews at Folica.com, and the reviews here are very positive. One owner says she made the switch from a traditional curling iron, and she likes that the T3 won't damage ends and tear hair. She also likes that the shape is conical so it's easy to get a variety of curls. Another reviewer says it was simple to learn to use this iron, it truly does work in a single pass and she likes the 9-foot cord. One owner notes, however, that this wand is really best for long hair.
