Reviewers say the Eva-Dry E-333 Mini Dehumidifier is ideal for small, enclosed areas without electrical outlets, such as cabinets, closets and safes. Instead of using electricity to generate heat, the Eva-Dry E-333 uses silica gel and crystals that can absorb about 6 ounces of water from the air over a 20- to 30-day period. When the blue silica beads turn pink, the E-333 must be plugged in to dry out the crystals, a process that takes 10 to 12 hours. Although most owners report good results with the Eva-Dry E-333, a minority percent say that their units did not work at all or did not remove enough moisture -- even in a small space. If you need a dehumidifier for a bathroom or laundry room, the larger Eva-Dry Renewable Mini Dehumidifier E-500 (*Est. $30) may be sufficient. But for closets, cabinets and even cars, owners say the smaller version does a nice job. Both dehumidifiers come with an impressive five-year warranty.
