Owner reviews suggest the Eva-Dry EDV-1100 as a good dehumidifier for a very small room or closet. The Eva-Dry compact dehumidifier weighs just three pounds and automatically shuts off when the 16-ounce collection cup is full (you can't attach a hose to a drain). The Eva-Dry EDV-1100 is extremely quiet because it uses thermoelectric Peltier technology rather than a condenser like larger, traditional dehumidifiers. As with all dehumidifiers, we read a fair number of complaints about durability for this model. A cheaper option is the Eva-Dry EDV-E-500 Renewable Wireless Mini Dehumidifier (*Est. $25), which works by using moisture-absorbing crystals.

We found more than 200 owner reviews at Amazon.com for the Eva-Dry EDV-1100 compact dehumidifier. There are also some owner reviews at retailer websites catering to allergy sufferers and RV owners. The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers' website has a chart that shows how big a humidifier you need to buy for various square footages and humidity levels.
