Reviews of the 50-pint Frigidaire FAD504TDD commend its quiet operation and report few durability issues. Owners like the digital display showing the room's current humidity level and a light that signals it's time to clean the air filter. Frigidaire makes several models of 50-pint dehumidifiers that seem to be nearly identical. Although this particular model isn't included in expert reviews, the similar Frigidaire LAD504TDL (Est. $200) is recommended in one comparison test of 17 dehumidifiers. This dehumidifier is Energy Star-rated, but a shortcoming is that it is less efficient in colder temperatures. The Danby DDR7009REE (*Est. $210) may be a better choice to dehumidify a basement, since it also has automatic defrost and will restart after a power outage.
Although this particular model of Frigidaire isn't covered in professional reviews, ConsumerReports.org rates the similar Frigidaire FAD504TDD, which is sold only at Lowes.com. In testing by the EPA, the Frigidaire FAD504TDD was efficient enough to receive the Energy Star label. We found hundreds of mostly positive owner-written reviews at Amazon.com, and a smaller number at Newegg.com.
