Parents say Thirsties Duo diapers have a lot going for them. The easy-to-insert liners do a good job of absorbing messes, and the double gussets help prevent leaks. The diapers are easy to adjust for a closer fit despite coming in only two sizes, reviewers say. The wide range of colors and patterns also has a lot of fans. However, some parents warn that the diapers can wear out somewhat quickly, particularly if you opt for Aplix closures instead of snaps.
Absorbent and adjustable. Thirsties Duo diapers generally get solid marks for absorbency, and parents like the ability to choose between a microfiber and hemp insert. According to reviews, the diapers' double gussets do a good job of containing solid messes. The Duo, which comes in two sizes with either snap or aplix closures, also gets high marks for adjustability. Some reviewers say the Duo is a happy medium between convenient one-size diapers and multiple-size diapers that offer a closer fit. The diaper has two openings for inserts, and parents like that the inserts don't need to be removed before washing -- they agitate out on their own in the machine. On the downside, some say the Aplix closures easily collect lint and tend to wear out fairly quickly. The inserts also may shift more in the Duo than in diapers with just one opening, leaving some babies vulnerable to leaks. The diaper has a fairly slim profile, reviewers say.
Lots of colors and designs. Thirsties Duo covers are made of moisture-resistant polyester urethane and polyester microfleece. Parents can choose from two inserts: one is polyester-microfiber terry, and the other is hemp and cotton. The latter is more absorbent, but reviewers warn that it takes a long time to dry. The diapers are also free of VOCs, PVC, phthalates, lead and latex. Thirsties offers a wide range of colors and patterns, which parents love. All diaper components can be machine washed and dried, though line drying may extend the life of the diapers.

Review Credibility: Very Good Blogger Kimball reviews 25 different diapers from 21 brands, scoring them on a 30-point scale. As she notes, her experiences are limited to her own household and baby. She likes the Thirsties Duo double gussets, which hold in bowel movements well. However, the diaper does leak sometimes with just urine, she says. She likes having two openings for inserts, which makes the diaper faster to stuff and eliminates the need for unstuffing before washing. However, that also means liners may shift and allow leaks. The diaper started to look worn quickly, she says, giving it 20 points.
