We can't find any reviews of the Ceiva LF4007 seven-inch model, but several reliable sources cover the nearly identical eight-inch Ceiva LF4008 (*est. $200). The main difference -- besides size -- is that the eight-inch model offers interchangeable faceplates. Consumer Reports provides the best comparison review, in which they rank 10 digital frames based on picture quality and ease of use. CNet.com rates the Ceiva eight-inch in a thorough review, and three print publications compare it with a few other frames. These reviews in The Washington Post, USA Today, and Laptop magazine each emphasize slightly different factors and add useful detail. About a dozen owners rate and review the Ceiva eight-inch frame at Amazon.com.

The now-discontinued Ceiva LF4007 seven-inch digital photo frame doesn't get top ratings in reviews for image quality, overall aesthetics or value, but it does have a unique advantage for anyone not comfortable with high-tech devices. Frame users in the U.S. and Canada can plug a Ceiva digital photo frame into a regular phone line, and the frame will automatically dials in regularly to get a new batch of 50 photos from an online PicturePlan account (*est. $100 per year), and the images in the account can be sent to any number of Ceiva digital frames. If you buy one as a gift, you can program it before you send it, so the recipient only needs to plug it in. There's no audio or video capability, and the frame only offers landscape orientation with a resolution of just 640x480. You can use a memory card to play a slide show of up to 500 pictures or load photos to the frame via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. This Ceiva frame is now discontinued, but the CEIVAshare Digital Photo Frame (*est. $130 plus subscription) is currently available.

4. USA Today Magazine

USA Today's Edward C. Baig evaluates three digital picture frames: the Ceiva eight-inch, the Kodak EX811 and the Pandigital 15-inch. He says the Ceiva works fine when photos are loaded by analog phone or memory card, but he finds the optional broadband method needlessly complicated.

5. Laptop Magazine

Comparing four digital photo frames, this brief review praises the image quality on the eight-inch Ceiva -- even in bright light -- but finds the front-mounted controls unaesthetic. The main criticism, however, is the high price when the service and any necessary adapters are taken into account.
