Reviewers agree that Wi-Fi is a great feature in a digital photo frame. However, execution isn't the best. This is true of the Kodak EasyShare EX811. While owners and experts say the Wi-Fi feature is great once you get it set up, getting there is the hard part. As a result, the Kodak EasyShare EX811 doesn't make a great gift if the recipient isn't comfortable troubleshooting their wireless network. Otherwise, reviewers say image quality is good, with good resolution, and off-angle viewing is better than most. The Kodak EX811 comes with a remote control, and it can also play MP3s and videos (though reviews on quality are mixed). It has a timer, so you can turn the frame on and off at set times. Photos can be updated over a wireless network from a computer or from an online Kodak Gallery account. You can also load photos with memory cards.

CNET provides a detailed review of the Kodak EasyShare EX811, and a review at PCMag.com also covers this frame in depth. ConsumerGuide.com recommends the Kodak EasyShare EX811, but testing details are not specified. The Washington Post's Rob Pegoraro includes the Kodak frame in an evaluation of four models. Lastly, Amazon.com user reviews are helpful.

Our Sources

1. CNET

CNET gives the 8-inch Kodak EasyShare EX811 a score of four stars out of five. The wireless features work well, and the bright screen and 128 MB memory is a plus. The "tinny" speakers are a drawback, and reviewer David Carnoy is annoyed that your pictures aren't resized automatically.

2. PCMag.com

Photo quality is said to be a bit lacking in this review, but PCMag.com's Jennifer DeLeo says wireless setup is pretty smooth, and the 128 MB internal memory is also a plus. Video playback isn't great, but the remote control is called "excellent." Overall, the EX811 gets a rating of "very good."

3. The Washington Post

In this head-to-head test with three other frames, Rob Pegoraro taps the Kodak EasyShare EX811 as "the best of a mediocre lot." Pegoraro says the frame is fine as a basic playback device, but the remote control doesn't work well.

4. Amazon.com

More than 350 owners review Kodak frames here, but not all of the reviews are about this model. About two-thirds of owners seem happy with the Kodak Wi-Fi frames, but we found quite a few complaints that wireless setup isn't nearly as easy as it should be.
