Best large photo frame

Pros
  • Excellent picture quality
  • Elegant design and excellent build quality
  • Good on-board controls, on-screen interface
Cons
  • No Wi-Fi
  • Does not support music, video files
  • Price
  • Stand is not adjustable

Although the Sony DPF-X1000B 10.2-inch Digital Photo Frame does not have Wi-Fi connectivity or support for music and video files, reviewers say the excellent image quality, elegant design and user-friendly interface justify its high price tag. The 10.2-inch LCD screen features a high 1,000-pixel-by-600-pixel resolution. Reviewer "Thomas S." at Digital-Picture-Frame-Review.com says the X1000B's "excellent color saturation and deep black levels really help make images pop." Experts say menus and controls are intuitive and easy to use. One feature not seen on many frames is what Sony calls "Auto Touch-up," which allows for basic editing right on the frame. Edits like red-eye removal, focus adjustments and skin smoothing can be made after photos are loaded onto the device. Stuart Miles at Pocket-lint.com says that while this feature is not intended to have the functionality of a full-blown photo-editing program, "for the most part results are good." Another somewhat unique feature of the Sony DPF-X1000B is an HDMI port for connecting the frame to a HDTV. Reviewers are somewhat mixed on the need for this feature but say it works well and could be useful for showing images on a large screen at a party.

Digital-Picture-Frame-Review.com has a very thorough review of the Sony DPF-V1000, identical to the X1000B except that the X1000B has 2 GB of memory rather than 1 GB. British review site Pocket-lint.com also has an informative review. Several dozen consumers voice their opinions at Amazon.com.
