When it comes to digital thermometers, most experts say there's little reason to spend much. ConsumerReports.org didn't find that pricier models performed any better than some cheaper models when it came to accurate readings. We found good reviews overall for the Vicks ComfortFlex Digital Thermometer. This standard model can measure temperature orally, rectally or under the arm. Its flexible tip makes it more comfortable to use. An added feature is an alert that indicates the presence of a fever. On the downside, we did read some complaints about the thermometer's battery life, and some users report inaccurate readings. But for the price, the balance of reviews is positive overall. If you need a baby thermometer, consider the Vicks Baby Rectal Thermometer (*Est. $13), which has a shorter probe to prevent over-insertion.
