The Bosch Evolution 500 SHE55M12UC costs a bit more than the top-rated Maytag JetClean Plus MDB8959AWW (*Est. $660) , but it has a couple of advantages. In professional tests, it gets higher scores for its cleaning, energy efficiency and quietness (partly because it doesn't include a noisy self-cleaning filter). It also lacks the Maytag's hidden controls, which some users find inconvenient. Otherwise, the two dishwashers have similar features: Both include a stainless-steel tub, an adjustable top rack, a sanitize cycle and Energy Star certification.
Users praise the Evolution 500's quietness, performance, efficiency and "elegant" design. Yet some complain that it's awkward to load and it doesn't leave dishes dry.
