Consumer Reports is the most prolific reviewer of dishwashers. Editors rate close to 50 models, including the Bosch SHX98MO(9)UC in its latest update. It's not cheap, but if you want stylish extras like hidden door controls and the best noise insulation, the Bosch SHX98MO(9)UC gets top-rate reviews. In terms of cleaning, the expensive Bosch doesn't radically outperform less expensive dishwashers like the more basic Kenmore 13724 (*est. $650), but it's sleeker, and has a stainless steel cabinet that can match other fancy appliances. The Bosch dishwasher also scores points for noise insulation. As with all Bosch dishwashers, the SHX98MO(9)UC doesn't have a heated drying cycle; instead, the Bosch recycles energy from the wash cycles to dry dishes, which also saves energy. While it doesn't bother most users, the Bosch doesn't have a hard-food disposer, so you'll occasionally have to manually empty the filter.
