The Maytag JetClean Plus MDB4709AWW is a bare-bones dishwasher with a bargain-basement price. It doesn't come with the hidden controls and adjustable rack found on the top-rated MDB8959AWW (*Est. $660) , or even the stainless-steel tub in the budget-priced MDB7749AWW (*Est. $550) . It does include a self-cleaning filter, however, and professional tests show it to be reasonably energy-efficient even though it isn't Energy Star-rated. It gets good scores for its cleaning performance, but tests show that it's noisier than most models. Users agree that the dishwasher is loud and some find its construction flimsy, but few complain about its reliability. They also say it cleans well and offers plenty of space. This machine comes in black, white and bisque; a stainless-steel and black version is available for about $100 more.
