Experts say Canidae All Life Stages formulas are is among the better moderately priced canned dog foods. Ingredients are high quality, and there are no cheap fillers, byproducts or chemical preservatives. Canidae can be fed as a sole food, though the manufacturer recommends a mix of 25 percent canned and 75 percent dry "to achieve a balanced diet and maintain firm stools." It's a bit more expensive than most supermarket foods -- and a bit harder to find -- but the ingredient list is far superior because you won't find glutens, byproducts and other undesirable and controversial ingredients. At the same time, it is notably less expensive than some premium dog foods, such as Newman's Own Organics Organic Beef & Liver (*Est. $2.50 per 13 oz. can), that have a higher meat content -- and no grains. Although that food is intended as a sole diet, its high meat content might be too rich for some dogs to tolerate.
We found a bit of feedback for Canidae All Life Stages dog foods, but some is more helpful than others. DogFoodAdvisor.com has the most detailed discussion, though it centers on another variety from the company. PetsumerReports.com is almost as thorough, and it includes detailed information on Canidae Chicken, Lamb and Fish All Life Stages, but the information is available only to subscribers. DogFoodAnalysis.com rates Canidae Chicken, Lamb and Fish All Life Stages as well, but it provides no comments and the report is now rather old. Mary Straus includes Canidae on her list of better dog foods at DogAware.com.. A handful of user comments can be found at the Only Natural Pet Store website.

Mike Sagman awards Canidae dog foods a 4 star (out of 5) rating, but his evaluation is based on a different formulation. He appreciates that the company uses high quality ingredients and provides chelated minerals, which are easier for dogs to digest. No undesirable or questionable ingredients are used, leading Sagman to highly recommend Canidae canned dog foods.

Dog foods aren't tested, but they are evaluated according to contents listed on the label and rated from 1 to 6 stars. Although the site includes reviews with many of its ratings of dry dog foods, canned dog foods are rated without comment. Canidae Chicken Lamb and Fish All Life Stages dog food receives a 4-star rating, better than most canned foods in its price class. However, the review has grown rather old.

About a dozen owners weigh-in on Canidae All Life Stages Chicken, Lamb and Fish formula, and nearly all are completely pleased. One owner does complain of loose stools until another food was mixed in but reports that his dog loved the food.
