Innova EVO Dry

Pros
  • Very high protein content
  • High-quality carb sources
  • No low-value fillers
Cons
  • Too rich for some dogs, especially puppies
  • Expensive

Experts say Innova EVO is among the better dry food choices. Innova EVO has a high meat content and draws its carbohydrate content from high-quality sources like potatoes. While the food includes fruits and vegetables, the first four ingredients are meat or meat meals, and some reviewers say the protein content is too rich for certain dogs and is not recommended for puppies. Among competing foods, Orijen Dry Dog Food (*est. $35 per 15.4-pound bag) draws even more kudos, with several reviewers calling it unsurpassed among dry foods. Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul Dog Food (*est. $23 per 18-pound bag) has a lower meat content, but is less expensive and widely praised for using top quality ingredients.

Among reviewers, DogFoodAnalysis.com covers the most products, and offers detailed reviews on some of them. Six Innova EVO dry foods get the maximum six stars. DogAware.com is just as credible but less encyclopedic. Ask Susan Peters also rates Innova EVO, but the site is highly critical, and ratings are sometimes contradictory, leading to confusion. Owner reviews can be found at RateItAll.com and OnlyNaturalPetStore.com.
