Name.com is a domain registrar that offers some unique features and doesn't overwhelm users with ads for upgraded services like GoDaddy.com does. Web pros and average users alike say the service is easy to use, checkout is fast and costs are up front. Reviews say that customer service is good, but it's not available 24/7, and it's only by email and phone, not chat.
Offers unique extras. Name.com is a simple domain registration site, with a handful of helpful features that are popular with reviews. One is called Domain Nabber, a service that checks for expired domains that you'd like to own and snatches them up for you. When you search for an available domain, Name will let you know if it's coming up for auction and offer suggestions if your top choice is not available. Pricing is straightforward and similar to competitors', but the service offers frequent discounts, especially if you own more than one domain name.
Minimal upselling. One attribute that most reviewers call out is that Name.com doesn't go overboard with upselling tactics, which ensures a painless checkout process. "It's easy to get in and get out which I like," says blogger Adam Yamada. He prefers Name.com's interface over GoDaddy.com and NameCheap.com. Name.com offers phone and email support seven days a week, but not 24 hours a day (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for phone and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for email). Reviewers say customer support is responsive and personable.
