Joovy Caboose Ultralight

Sit-and-stand double stroller

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Fits easily through doorways
  • Compatible with car seats
Cons
  • Second child gets limited room
  • Difficult to push on rough terrain

Reviewers like the Joovy Caboose Ultralight for its unusual stand-on tandem design. The main seat in front is car-seat-compatible, meaning it's suitable right from birth. Behind that, there's a small running board for a toddler or preschooler to stand on, plus a small seat for when they get tired. Parents say the Joovy maneuvers like a single stroller, and its light weight makes it easy to throw in the car for trips to the mall. This stroller is not recommended for twins or two very young children, though. For that purpose, reviews prefer more traditional double strollers such as the Graco Quattro Tour Duo (*Est. $250) or Graco DuoGlider (*Est. $150).

"Baby Bargains" has such a strong reputation with parents that we consider it our top source despite its very short write-up on the Joovy Caboose Ultralight. Babble.com editors recommend the Joovy Caboose Ultralight based on their own road tests, but the write-up is short. Parents tend to be more detailed in their reviews, and we found good coverage by owners posting to Amazon.com and Buzzillions.com.

Our Sources

1. Baby Bargains

"Baby Bargains" is widely regarded as the top buyer's guide for new parents and parents-to-be. When it comes to strollers, authors Denise and Alan Fields have opted for broad rather than deep coverage, but they do touch on both the Joovy Caboose Ultralight and the heavier (and less expensive) Joovy Caboose.

2. Babble.com

The Joovy Caboose Ultralight is the best option for parents of two whose older child wants to ride sometimes, but won't sit in the stroller for long, editors here say. They especially like its compact, lightweight frame. They name the Caboose Ultralight to their list of 2010's best double strollers, based on tests with a 5-month-old, 18-month-old and 3-year-old.
