phil&teds Sport Buggy Double

Convertible double stroller
- Compact size
- Versatility
- Maneuverability
- Cost of stroller and extra accessories
- Small sun shade
- Limited view in the rear seat
The phil&teds Sport Buggy Double is an unusual double stroller in that the second seat is added as an accessory. It can also be configured in several different positions, depending on the children's ages, and it accommodates kids up to age 4. This versatility is what gets especially good parent feedback, but reviews also praise the Sport Buggy's maneuverability and its relatively compact size. Owners say it's especially good for bus trips and for maneuvering through narrow doorways and store aisles. Another plus is that newborns can travel in a fully flat position, although some parents complain that there's no storage space in that configuration. The phil&teds Sport Buggy Double isn't designed for twins, though. If you're transporting two kids of roughly the same size, reviewers say a side-by-side model like the Maclaren Twin Techno (*Est. $380) is easy to push and still fits well through most doorways; it's also much less expensive.
The latest edition of "Baby Bargains" includes some good coverage of the phil&teds Sport Buggy Double. Authors Denise and Alan Fields don't test formally, but they do incorporate solid research and parent feedback into their ratings. Several magazines include this stroller in their latest roundups. We've singled out an article from Canadian Family magazine because it includes both positives and negatives, plus it includes some informal testing. Viewpoints.com and Amazon.com have the best owner-written reviews, and entries at both sites tend to be fairly thorough.
