Sanyo Smokeless Indoor Electric Grill HPS-SG3

Best open electric grill
- Large cooking surface
- Adjustable temperature control
- Easy cleanup
- Good value
- Lack of versatility
- Not entirely smokeless
- No cover
The Sanyo Smokeless Indoor Electric Grill is an open grill that earns favorable reviews for its cooking performance, adjustable temperature control and large (200 square inches) cooking surface. Testers find it easy to clean with its removable dishwasher-safe drip pan and say it sears meat well. Some consumers lament the lack of a cover, while others report that the Sanyo Smokeless grill does produce some smoke while in use. The Sanyo Smokeless can't double as a flat griddle, nor can it grill sandwiches like the Cuisinart Griddler GR-4 (*Est. $140). The DeLonghi Indoor Grill and Panini Press (*Est. $65) is comparable in price to the Sanyo Smokeless, but offers the ability to grill sandwiches with nearly as much grilling surface area (182 square inches). Overall, consumers echo professional reviewers' opinions that the Sanyo Smokeless grill is an excellent value.
The Sanyo Smokeless Indoor Electric Grill HPS-SG3 is tested by several highly regarded review sources. One foodie magazine includes it in a large comparative review and selects it as the top recommended model. The Wall Street Journal, which tests the Sanyon Smokeless grill against four other electric grills, says that it beats out the competition.
