As close as razor, August 30, 2009

Just bought this last week. Here are my observations: Positive: 1) It provides very close shave! I would say its even better than my razor as they'll go blunt pretty fast. Makes my skin very smooth. 2) Extremely value for money. For this money that you pay, its well worth it & very practical. 3) Easily washable 4) Recharges fast in under 60 mins. Negative: 1) Quite noisy. The sound can be heard by everyone in my house. 2) Build quality is just marginally acceptable. If you are the sort who drop things frequently, then I do not think this will last long. Thus, get this if you do not mind the noise and will take care of it well. But after all, for this price range, I will be delighted if I can get a good 3 years of lifespan from it. Who knows you will find something better after 3 years.

a great razor, August 29, 2009

this is a great razor especially for the cost. it even will trim longer facial hair...first remove the hair gently then go over the area for a close shave. easy to use , easy to clean, charges great. a no hassle razor..always a close shave no iritation at all. the side trimmer is good for sideburns. foil is well made..good for 18 months before replacement. i prefer foil over rotary. ill never wet shave with a regular razor again. being able to go against the beard grain makes for a closer shave than a regular blade...quick no mess. the foil area captures pratically all of the shavings..very little clean up. sure you can go for the more costly braun with added special features... i find i didnt need these extras... it works well. i can shave every day without hurting the skin. two thumbs up!

A strong one that lasts long too, August 17, 2009

After finding this shaver's 'cousin' was highly rated by Consumer Reports, and not wanting to buy their "discontinued" recommendation I tracked down the Braun 190. I was almost put off by the negative comments I found for the razor...placement of the on-off button, noise, etc. But I'm glad I bought it anyway. First, my only negative observation: The instructions about the first charging cycle are poor and I didn't give it a full charge and found it wasn't working right. So, before sending it back I gave it a 4-5 hour charge. BIG DIFFERENCE! The battery life is very good. I've recharged 3 times now... usually over 2 weeks between charges. The dedicated plug-in for charging works as an emergency power supply too, if you wait until it quits before starting to charge. As to the sound, I don't find it objectionable and it doesn't keep my wife awake in the early hours of the morning either...so... And unlike some other reports, I've never 'accidentally' turned it off or on due to the placement of that switch. It's a non-problem. Shaves are nice and close. Cleaning is easy, even though I don't use the method of putting the shaver head under running water. I just use the brush supplied and brush off the cutters a couple of times a week, and use the lubricant about once a week. Not too sure about replacing the lubricant once the very tiny bottle they supply runs out. For the money, I'd recommend it to other guys without reservation. Even if it was priced 50% higher, I'd still say with was worth the money. Oh, and watch out for the pop-up trimmer....it's very effective and will cut quickly and effectively. So make sure you have a steady hand if you're doing sideburns or the back of your head's hairline. (smile)

Great for the price, July 20, 2009

I bought this shaver because it was almost the price of just the replacement blades on my higher end Panasonic. It is not the most refined electric shaver out there (loud and more vibration than I was used to), but it gives the closest shave you can get. The one big downside is it has no feature to cut longer hairs, so if you skip a day shaving, it may take a while. pros: price, close shave cons: not refined, doesn't shave long hairs well

Braun 190 shaver, April 30, 2009
I bought based on reviews for this product and I was very disappointed. Shaver is loud, does not work well and I trashed after 3 uses. I cannot imagine anyone giving this product a good rating, they must work for the company.
