Unlike many electric shavers, the Panasonic Vortex HydraClean ES8109S foil shaver can be used dry or wet with shaving cream or lotion, as well as in the shower. The Panasonic ES8109S shaver includes a cleaning/charging base that uses a special cleaning solution to wash and dry the shaver, and it also has a five-minute quick-charge feature. Features include a pivoting head with a selector that adjusts the amount of pivot to the user's preference. On the downside, some say the cleaning cycle takes a while and can be loud, and cleaning cartridges last for a month and cost about $5 each. If you don't want to spend as much, the Remington MicroScreen MS2-390 (*Est. $55) is rated as performing nearly as well as more expensive electric shavers, but it is strictly for dry shaving.

ConsumerReports.org tests the Panasonic Vortex ES8109S shaver in a review and compares it to 16 other foil and rotary shavers. 3Luxe.com doesn't report on the ES8109S, but it includes its immediate and very similar predecessor -- the ES8077S -- in its list of the three best electric shavers for men.
