Outstanding, November 19, 2009
This toothbrush is outstanding. It actually makes me look forward to having to brush my teeth. It cleans much better than my older style of oral B toothbrush.
no problems, November 17, 2009
Product came as advertised and works well. It really helps gum problems--much better than the old fashioned toothbrushes.
Get that clean feeling now!, November 16, 2009

I tried some of the original sonicare electric toothbrushes a few years back and felt that they were more of a gimmick but these latest oral-b brushes are great. I got the SmartSeries 4000 for myself and bought some extra heads so my wife could try it out as well. She loves the clean feel as much as i do, and subsequently i purchased her own smartseries for her so she has the flexibility to travel and doesn't have to share my base. The size and scrubbing motion of the 'cupping/floss-action' toothbrush is great, it maneuvers well to cover all surfaces of each tooth.

Makes teeth sensitive. Use a good manual toothbrush., November 15, 2009

I bought a 2 pack of Braun electric brushes for me and my wife. After using it for a month I returned it. I usually do not return any item, least a personal item. But within 3 weeks I noticed that my teeth were more sensitive to cold water, etc. I did not want to use or pay for something that actually ruined my teeth. Looks like these brushes erode the enamel. Once eroded the enamel does not build back. Though I used these brushed around 1 year back, my teeth are still sensitive ever since I used them. The 2nd brush was for my wife and she had exactly the same experience as me. So I would advise you people out there. Keep it manual. More technology is not always good.

Good unit, November 3, 2009
Replaced older Braun device with this one, works very well, charging stand is like a circle, meaning tooth brush device sits inside charging ring, so no more water collection in the charging device. Comes with two brush heads, one for cleaning, one for polishing, has nice battery indicator on it.

1. Which? magazine

In a test at Britain's Which? magazine, the Oral-B Triumph 9900 and 9500 (immediate predecessors to the SmartSeries 5000 and 4000, which share the same technology) are given the highest marks. Testers say that the toothbrushes are expensive but do an excellent job of cleaning and have an especially long battery life.

2. Journal of Clinical Dentistry

In this clinical study, the Oral-B Triumph removes more plaque than the Sonicare Elite 7300 electric toothbrushes. The study is sponsored by the Procter & Gamble Company, makers of Oral-B toothbrushes.

3. Consumer magazine

Five staff members at New Zealand's Consumer magazine compare the Oral-B Triumph 9500, which is similar to the 9400 in the U.S., with their own powered toothbrushes. They find the Triumph more effective at cleaning and more comfortable to hold, but they also note greater vibration against their teeth. The Oral-B ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 4000 is the successor to the Triumph, and it employs the same technology.

4. Amazon.com

Hundreds of owners at Amazon.com give the Oral-B Triumph ProfessionalCare 9400, the direct predecessor to the SmartSeries 4000, a high average score. Some say that the electric toothbrush's extra features, including LCD display and multiple brushing speeds, are unnecessary.
