The Octane Q47 gets positive reviews and offers a wide range of features and exercise programs. In addition to its power adjustable stride length and foot pedals that are only 1.8 inches apart (resulting in less knee stress), this elliptical trainer has a program that automatically adjusts the stride length based on the user's height and speed. The Octane Q47 also has a good deal of adjustability with a stride length between 18 and 26 inches. Reviewers like these features, as well as the Q47's overall quality and stability. The price, however, is steep; for $1,000 less, the SportsArt E83 (*Est. $2,600) offers many of the same features and comparable stability and durability. For even less, Sole's E35 (*Est. $1,300) is worth considering, especially given its two-year warranty on labor.

The best reviews of the Octane Q47 are from TreadmillDoctor.com, a highly respected review site, as well as FitnessProfessorReview.com and Fitness-Equipment-Source.com. Prevention magazine has a short write-up based on testing to determine the three best elliptical trainers for women. Most of these reviews are quite positive, but TreadmillDoctor.com questions the Q47's overall value.

Our Sources

1. TreadmillDoctor.com

TreadmillDoctor.com offers one of the few less than positive reviews of the Octane Q47. The authors feel that consumers would get more for their money with a Precor or LifeFitness elliptical trainer. They give the Q47 relatively high marks for reliability, adjustability and quality, but a low mark for value.
