Sole 35 review - svdesai, November 13, 2009

Very pleased with this product. Its smooth, quite and feels like a professional machine in a gym. Getting is up to our master bedroom was hard. Just hope we don't move from this house as this machine is not getting out of where its sitting now :). Assembly while straight forward, does take a good dedicated 3 hours for an avg. person. ok it took me 3.5 hours but I goof'ed on one step so have to rewind a little. Highly recommend this products. Its been a week and loving it so far...

Best Elliptical Trainer...period - Features, Reliability, & Price, November 11, 2009

*Note: This review is for the E55 but I thought I would include it here since all the models, except for the E25 are the same platform and there is information in my review that is applicable to Sole ellipticals in general. My wife and I searched and searched for an elliptical because we were fed up with signing up for gym memberships and not using them. Having to go to the gym just wasn't practical for us. So we embarked on a quest to find the quietest, most reliable and feature packed elliptical we could find. Our budget was 2K or less. Online research led us to many brands and many models - too many actually. It was a dizzying array of choices. So we decided to visit fitness equipment stores and sporting goods stores to try out a few ellipticals in person. The fitness stores carried mostly high-end brands like Precor, which we liked, but were all WAY out of our price range. Besides, after looking at the fine print, we noticed that Precors only come with a 1 year warranty. After that, the frame is good for 10 years but parts and labor are at the owner's expense! The sporting goods stores turned up the typical mass market brands like Reebok, ProForm, Horizon, Ironman, and New Balance. Most were pretty flimsy feeling and wobbly or the stride just didn't feel right. The Reebok ellipticals came close but they didn't offer wireless heart rate monitoring and the stride still wasn't quite right. Our eureka moment came at Dick's sporting goods when we noticed one brand that we had never seen before, Sole. They had the E55 model on display and we tried it out. It was very solid feeling and the stride was natural. There was very little heel lift which is a key component for a low-impact workout - also, the foot pads are adjustable which virtually eliminates any heel lift. I was also pleased that the Sole elliptical had both pulse hand grips AND wireless chest strap heart rate monitoring. This is important not only to improve your endurance but also ensures a safer workout. There's also a great HRC program that varies the resistance based on your heart rate in order to maintain a constant heart rate. Since I'm not an impulse buyer I was still concerned that I had never heard of Sole before. Searching online turned up a few reviews about their treadmills. Digging deeper yielded a wealth of information about the treadmills and it turns out that Sole makes a very reliable product and their treadmills are well reviewed and used exclusively at Hilton and other hotel chains. With an endorsement like that I was sold. My online research also turned up the official Sole company site and I was happy to learn that I could order online with free shipping and no sales tax. The delivered price was still $500 below our budget! We also learned that the Sole ellipticals came with a great warranty, 2 years labor, 5 years motor and lifetime frame and deck. Not bad and twice as good as the Precor which was 3 times more price-wise. In summary, this is absolutely the best bang for the buck as far as ellipticals go. Sole ellipticals are the best ellipticals under $2000 and they even compete very well with the ones above $[...] as well! Lastly, the best place to buy them is from the company's own website, [...]

Thumbs up!, November 8, 2009

Very well made. Assembly instructions are easy to read and follow - two people are a must for assembly. All the pieces fit, holes were aligned, but use your own tools for assembly. The elliptical is solid, quiet, and very smooth. Assemble in the room where it will be used, once assembled moving it may be difficult especially around corners. Flywheel cover was slightly damaged upon arrival but Sole sent replacement within days and this was done without any hassle. The only gripe I have is toward the shipping company - the driver refused to help bring the box into the house saying that he can't enter the house. He helped set it on the front porch and left me with the task of getting the 275 lb box inside. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an elliptical.

Equipment great! Look Great Too!, October 14, 2009

As stated by previous reviewers I too did alot of internet research for an elliptical. I found the Sole Elliptical had good reviews & had all the features that I wanted and looks great as well. I went over my budget trying to keep the purchase under $1,000.00 but so far its been my first week of use & well worth it. Putting it together is not a breeze - I would say it took about 2 hours with 2 people. Machine very sturdy - runs very smooth. I got the shipment 2 days earlier than expected which was great! No problem so far.

Sole 35 one month in, September 19, 2009

I bought this trainer based on the reviews I've read. I was a little worried about the assembly after reading the reviews, but it was no trouble at all. One thing that did make me pause and review was that the plastic covers for the right and left sides are not mirror images of each other. Therefore, the cover on one side has the screws on the inside while the other side has the screws on the outside. The machine functions well so far, and I am feeling the benefits. I'm 48 and fairly out of shape, so I am increasing the time and intensity of my daily routine as I improve my stamina. I have used several of the programmed workouts as well as the manual mode. I like the fact that it asks for my weight, age, and the amount of time I want the workout to last. This allows me to vary the programs to the amount of time I want to spend on my workout. The machine automatically varies the time spent on each pahase of the workout so that the program is completed in the time I determine.
