Experts say that although steam-driven espresso machines don't produce enough pressure to create a true espresso, the Kalorik EXP25022 comes close. Testers at Good Housekeeping say it produces only a small amount of crema, but that the coffee tastes more like it came from a French press than an espresso machine. Still, editors say that the flavor is smooth. If you prefer the thick crema only found in a true espresso, experts recommend a pump-driven machine like the DeLonghi EC155 (*Est. $85).

We found a thorough review of the Kalorik EXP25022 at Good Housekeeping, where editors test espresso machines and describe their findings. We did not find many user reviews for the machine, though there are a few at Walmart.com, where owner feedback is mixed.

Our Sources

1. Good Housekeeping

Editors of Good Housekeeping say that the Kalorik EXP25022, like all steam espresso machines, doesn't produce enough pressure to make an authentic espresso, but it comes closer than other steam machines. The resulting coffee is smooth in flavor.

2. Walmart.com

Just a handful of owners review the Kalorik EXP25022, and their opinions are mixed. A couple users complain that the parts are flimsy and the machine is difficult to use ("You get what you pay for," one says), while another owner raves about the product.

3. Overstock.com

Only a few owners post reviews of the Kalorik espresso maker at this site. A couple reviews praise the Kalorik, saying little more than it works as it's supposed to. A different reviewer, however, complains that this model is cheap and not durable.
