Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes have a lotion-like formula that is good for normal to dry skin. Most say they do an excellent job of removing dirt, makeup and oil, but they may sting the eyes. Although the formula is free of common irritations, it contains a potentially irritating preservative that isn't recommended for sensitive skin.
Excellent cleansing ability. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes are lauded by beauty editors at Allure magazine for their gentle cleansing ability. Editors say the wipes are alcohol-, dye- and perfume-free, and they remove all traces of makeup, dirt and oil without stripping the skin of essential moisture. Users at Amazon.com agree. Most say that the wipes do an excellent job of cleansing skin. One says, "They are large and one wipe -- folded to use each section -- will get all your makeup off, even mascara." Skin-care expert Paula Begoun is more critical of the wipes, however. She says the wipes use a formaldehyde-releasing preservative (2-bromo-2-nitropane-1, 3-diol) that isn't good for sensitive skin.
Refreshing scent. Experts say Simple cleansing wipes feel cool and soothing on the skin and have a refreshing clean scent. One user at Amazon.com says, "My skin felt really clean, without feeling dry or tight the way some cleansers can leave your skin." Most like that Simple wipes don't leave behind any sticky or greasy residue, but a few say that the wipes sting their eyes.
