Reviews are scant for the 2008 Nissan Maxima. But thorough, helpful coverage can still be uncovered from mainstays such as Consumer Reports magazine and ConsumerGuide.com. Car and Driver magazine and Edmunds.com offer older reviews, while Motor Trend magazine offers a video review of the 2007 model that primarily showcases styling changes. Reviewers at Kelley Blue Book include the 2008 Nissan Maxima on their list of recommended sedans, and they provide an attached review that covers this model in more detail.
The 2008 Nissan Maxima offers a sporty ride, testers say. Acceleration and braking are both impressive, and the suspension is well tuned. The interior is well-regarded in terms of comfort and space, and long-term reliability appears to be a particular strength. On the other hand, some sources noted a jumpy throttle and a tendency toward torque steer in road tests. Others highlighted safety concerns including compromised rear visibility and unimpressive side-impact crash test scores. In some reviews, the Nissan Maxima lost points for control placement and a few low-grade cabin materials, and yellow LCD displays become almost unreadable in bright sunlight. Overall, the Maxima isn't received as well as the 2008 Toyota Avalon (*est. $27,075 to $34,415) among large family sedans. And its own cousin, the 2008 Nissan Altima (*est. $18,330 to $28,380), is worth a look as a better value in a sporty sedan.
