  • Oscillates

Cons

Where to Buy

The inexpensive Lasko 1825 18-Inch Adjustable Cyclone pedestal fan has a good set of features for its price: it has three speeds, oscillation, a tilting head and a base that adjusts in height from 22 inches to 54.5 inches. Owners say it produces a powerful breeze and is easy to assemble, but we saw several complaints about flimsy construction. In particular, the fan's adjustable pole has a tendency to collapse back to its shortest height without warning. (One user reports holding it in place with duct tape.) Users note that the fan can be loud at high speeds, but most do not find the noise objectionable. Overall, owners seem to consider this fan a good value. Pedestal fans in general are top-heavy and can tip over easily, so if you need something more stable, consider a tower fan like the Lasko 2517 Wind Tower Fan (*Est. $45).

Bestcovery.com's appliances expert L.D. Ray recommends the Lasko 1825 as the best pedestal fan in a recent review. We also found more than 400 user ratings for this model at Walmart.com, though most of the accompanying comments are brief. The fan receives only a handful of reviews at Amazon.com.
