The Brother IntelliFax-2820 fax machine is a solid faxing choice for a small business or home office. It uses laser technology for clear, sharp printouts and copies, as well as lower per-page costs, but the company's decision to only include a "starter" toner cartridge (1,500 pages estimated) is a disappointment. Some fax machines have faster modems, but the transmission speed of six seconds per page should suffice for most. Most user reports are positive to glowing, but we've also seen a few that complain of paper jams. If you have more demanding faxing needs, the Brother IntelliFax-4100e (*est. $300) is more expensive, but is faster and has more flexible paper-handling abilities.
