For those who value a top-notch firewall as part of an integrated security solution, experts say that Outpost Security Suite Pro is a worthy contender. The firewall itself is among the best in independent testing. A new interface for novices makes the software easy to use for beginners, but those interested in more control will find the advanced interface as daunting to use as ever. The antivirus component in the suite is also adequate, though there are some reports of false positives in Outpost's scans. As a whole, the suite offers fewer types of protection than other all-in-one security solutions, such as Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 (*Est. $80). However, the firewall in Kaspersky, while better than most, does not perform as well as Outpost in the rigorous tests at Matousec.com.
Matousec.com subjects firewalls, including the one in Outpost Security Suite Pro, to a gauntlet of 148 challenges. TopTenReviews.com doesn't report on the testing it does, but it provides a rundown of positives and negatives. An article in the Columbia Daily Tribune also touches upon Outpost Security Suite, but it is short on details and is old. User feedback is available at Download.com and Softpedia.com.

Outpost Security Suite Pro falls in the top tier of firewalls here, passing 97 percent of 148 tests, and it is rated "excellent" for the level of protection. However, while the effectiveness testing on this site is unsurpassed, no significant attention is paid to other important factors, such as ease of use.

TopTenReviews.com drops Outpost Security Suite Pro 7.5 in 16th place out of 23 in its list of the best Internet security software. Although the simple interface is praised as being user-friendly, hands-on testing seems scant at best: The major con against the software is "Agnitum has not submitted Outpost Security Suite to many well-known third-party test labs." The firewall is called "powerful," but that's it for the discussion about that component.
