The BaByliss Pro Porcelain Ceramic 1" Straightening Iron offers many of the same benefits of the BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium line, but at a lower price. This iron heats up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit -- hotter than most irons at this price -- and because the plates are ceramic, it does less damage. It can also curl hair. However, those advantages are marred by the fact that the iron breaks easily, with the ceramic coating flaking off or the wire disconnecting.
An effective flat iron for the price. Most users find the BaByliss Pro Porcelain Ceramic 1" Straightening Iron to be very effective, though some qualify the statement with "for the price." It heats up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, like the other BaByliss Pro models we found reviewed, yet there are fewer reports of burning (likely due to the lower heat-transference of ceramic) and fewer raves that it's the best iron on the market. Some users report that the ceramic coating chips easily, but overall it seems to be acceptable.
Low heat means less burning. There are no reports of this iron causing burns or damaging countertops, despite the fact that it reaches very high heats. Some users report that the cord disconnects easily, because it does not swivel. There are fewer reports of hair snagging or burning than competitors receive; however the cord issue is potentially dangerous.

Review Credibility: Good Editors round up the best hair tools at two price points. The BaByliss Pro Porcelain Ceramic Iron is one of the only mass-market flat irons that hits 450 degrees Fahrenheit, editors note. A pro stylist is quoted as saying it gets hair perfectly straight in just one pass. Other than price, it's not clear what distinguishes these two irons' performance. It's also not clear how the irons were tested.

2. Amazon.com
Review Credibility: Good More than 160 reviewers on Amazon.com give the BaByliss Pro Porcelain Ceramic Flat Iron an overall rating of about 4.5 out of 5 stars, but the 1", 1-1/2" and 2" irons are all listed together, and there's no way to see reviews for one size at a time. While reviewers praise the adjustable digital temperature settings, several reviewers say the ceramic coating flakes off easily, revealing the metal plate underneath. Some users also report that the cord disconnects easily, leaving the flat iron useless.
