The Cuisinart DLC-2014 PowerPrep Plus food processor has the largest capacity on the market today. For consumers who need to process large amounts of food, this mammoth food processor can make a mountain of shredded cheese or make enough dough for 90 cookies. Testing shows that Cuisinart food processors excel at kneading dough, while KitchenAid models excel at vegetable prep. Cuisinart supports this food processor with a three-year warranty on parts. Reviews note, however, that it costs more than most food processors, and unless you really need the extra capacity over a standard 11- or 12-cup food processor, this model could be overkill.

Cook's Illustrated performs comprehensive tests on the similar but smaller 11-cup Cuisinart Prep 11 Plus food processor. Cuisine at Home and Food & Wine magazines also include the smaller Cuisinart food processor in tests. Consumer-written reviews at Amazon.com and Cooking.com are the best way to specifically evaluate the 14-cup model.

Our Sources

1. Cook's Illustrated Magazine

Cook's Illustrated tests nine food processors, rating each on their ability to prepare dough and puree soup. The magazine lists the best performers according to various criteria. The 14-cup Cuisinart DLC-2014 isn't included, but editors do test a smaller Cuisinart food processor.

2. Cuisine at Home

There's scant evidence that tests were performed specifically for this article. However, the unidentified author provides a good buyer's guide. A smaller Cuisinart food processor is one of the recommended models, but the 14-cup version is not tested.

3. Food & Wine Magazine

This article states that models were tested, but doesn't explain how. A smaller version of the Cuisinart DLC-2014 comes in as a runner-up.
