Cuisinart DLC-5

pros
  • Owners say the Cuisinart DLC-5 is easy to assemble and use, and it receives very positive feedback from owners posting to Amazon.com. The 7-cup size is nice for small families or singles, or just those with limited countertop space.
cons
  • Some owners say the Cuisinart DLC-5's feed tube is too small; as an alternative, some suggest the same-capacity Cuisinart DLC-10S instead, which has a larger feed tube.

got one for my wife and ones for my daughters. do the job as expected
Must Have! How did I do for so long without it?!, May 21, 2009

I've owned this for 3.5 years and use it almost daily. In fact, I'm not sure how I did without it for so long. Even my better half who loves those expensive knives utterly fell head over heels for this unit. Perfect for salads and food prep of all types, this is one of the most used products in our kitchen. Great size for small families, it's a little work-horse that performs as good today as it did 3.5 years ago. Well built, powerful enough for most items and sized right. A must have for every kitchen!

13 years and going strong, May 12, 2009

I got this as a wedding gift 13 years ago and it's still perking along. It's great for making things like hummus, baba ganoush, perfectly sliced potatoes, coleslaw. I just recently have started using it to make bread dough and it's revolutionized how I feel about baking bread. My only quibble is, as another reviewer said, the seal between lid and bowl is not tight enough and flour and liquid can sometimes slosh out. However, I've not had this adversely affect any of my recipes. It's a great, simple machine.

Great Deal, May 12, 2009
For the money this one is amazing! I mainly eat raw foods so I use this food processor almost daily. I've had it for over a year and it still does a great job!
Too small tube; not compatible with the recommended specialty disc set, December 29, 2008

I ordered this mainly for the task of fine grating, hence I ordered also the recommended specialty discs with the fine grating. I figured if I would have a gadget to do fine grating by the bulk (I got tired doing it by hand!), I might as well have one that can do the slicing (I have used my Zyliss mandoline for slicing purposes). The photo is misleading as it shows slices of what seems like a whole apple. The recommended disc set should have also come with a recommendation to get a stem disc that will enable attachment to the food processor (but like I said, they are not compatible). The food processor that will go with this disc set and the supposed disc stem is another model, but definitely not this one. Which model? I don't know. Cuisinart's documentation leaves a lot to be desired. No reference was made on the product literature of the disc set as to what food processor model this set can be used in. I am returning both products. What a waste of my time (and I have to pay not only shipping fee but also a restocking fee for the disc set which came from Kitchen Clique). I am not a happy customer this time. :(
