Nice chopper for onions and peppers...NOT tomatoes!, November 16, 2009

I was looking for a chopper to make salsa from fresh ingredients. I found this one at Target and thought I'd give it a try due to the reviews. Normally I chop everything by hand and it takes quite a bit of time. This chopper does a good job on the onions, peppers and cilantro but the tomatoes turn to mush with some large pieces. It did make me think though, I have a little Cuisinart mini prep chooper/grinder which does the same job, so I'm returning the Kitchenaid and will just use my Cuisinart for everything but the tomatoes. I guess everyone who said it did a good job on salsa must be using canned tomatoes. I could see that working but we prefer fresh.

Love this little choppper!!, October 18, 2009
LOVE this little chopper!! Quick and easy clean-up. I chop up peppers and onion and store them for quick egg white omlets for breakfast. Takes up very little room on my counter. Great for salad dressings. I'm sure I'll find lots of uses for it.
I use the chopper daily., September 14, 2009
This chopper is great. I use it to chop onions, peppers and herbs as well as to make sauces and salsas.
will never stray again!, September 3, 2009

After having a KitchenAid mini chopper for years, using it mainly for making pesto, chopping onions, and grinding nuts, the little locking tabs broke. I bought a different brand, because it was much cheaper. The first time I used it, I knew I had made a mistake. The blades just spun around, leaving the basil leaves unchopped, the pouring hole was too small, and oil spilled all over the counter. I returned the piece of junk (which had been "sponsored by Food Network)and went back to this tried and true, reliable piece of equipment. It is called a "chopper" and KitchenAid has a full size processor if that's what you need - but this is perfect for the smaller jobs, and makes an incredible homemade pesto in particular.
